What you are buying

You are buying the right to use STUMMIS for one year, on the package named in the invoice.

You are not buying the disks. You are not buying the photographs, video or sound. Those stay with you or with your institution.

The package page describes Personal, Studio, Unit and Campus in plain words, including how many people, where the files stay, and how many hours of speech we write out. The invoice repeats the package you chose. If the invoice and this page ever disagree, the invoice is the one you are paying.

How you pay

We send an invoice in Ghana cedis. You pay it away from this website, by bank transfer or as the invoice says. This website does not take a card payment.

We open the library after the invoice is paid, and we invite the people named on it.

The prices on the website are opening prices. They follow the Bank of Ghana mid rate of GH₵11.65 to the US dollar on 29 October 2026, rounded to the nearest 10 cedis. Ask us to change a figure before the invoice is sent if it is wrong for you. After you pay an invoice, that invoice is the price for that year.

What is included

Each package includes a number of people, one way of keeping the files, and a number of hours of recording written out as text. The hours are used only after someone in the library allows speech to be written down.

More hours are GH₵1,170 for each extra 50 hours.

A file that stays on your own disk is not charged by the gigabyte. If we agree to keep full copies beyond the upload amount in the package, that is GH₵120 a month for each terabyte we actually store.

Unit includes a one-time getting-started fee of GH₵5,830, unless we have agreed that the first trial does not pay it. Campus includes installation, a demonstration for the teams, and answers to questions for that year. Another team after the first eight on Campus is GH₵9,320 a year.

Your files stay yours

You confirm that you, or your institution, have the right to put each file in the library.

STUMMIS does not take ownership of a file because it is listed, previewed, or uploaded.

Who may sign in

Only people the library invites. Do not share your password. Do not let someone outside the institution use your sign-in.

A team sees the files shared with that team. The rest of the institution sees a file only when it is shared with the institution, or published as a preview. The original of a published file is downloaded only after the owner, or an editor of that team, approves the request.

What you must not do

Do not put a file in the library if you have no right to keep it there.

Do not turn on face detection, or send recordings to be written out, unless you understand the question on the screen and the institution has agreed.

Do not try to open another institution's library. Do not try to break, overload, or take over the system.

When a disk is unplugged

If the file was never uploaded, and the disk it lives on is unplugged or switched off, search can still show the file and its small picture. Playing or downloading the full file has to wait until that disk can be reached. That is how the Unit and Campus packages work, and it is also how Personal and Studio work for files you did not upload.

The person who runs STUMMIS

They may open your library to create it, to restore a sign-in, or to fix a fault. They may see what a member of that library would see while they are doing that.

They do not sell your files, and they do not use them to train a public model.

If something goes wrong

We will try to keep the library available and to answer during the support included in your package. We do not promise that the software never stops, or that a disk you unplugged will still play.

We are not responsible for a file you had no right to add, or for a disk that was not connected.

If we are at fault, what we pay is limited to the fees you paid us for STUMMIS in the twelve months before the problem, except where the law of Ghana does not allow that limit.

Stopping

Either side can stop at the end of a paid year by saying so before the next invoice.

If an invoice is not paid, we can close sign-in until it is.

Files that stayed on your disks are still on your disks. Copies we hold are deleted on a date we agree with you, or 60 days after we write and get no answer. Ask for a copy of the catalogue before that date if you need it.

The law

These terms follow the law of Ghana. The privacy policy is part of what you accept when you ask for an account or pay an invoice.
